KickBlade was formally registered as a company in April 2013. Although relatively new, there is a long history of developing high performance real-time rendering solutions behind the brand.
In the last 15 years, we've built up a deep knowledge on lots of various platforms including PlayStation® 2, PlayStation® 3, Xbox 360, PC, iPhone and Android.
We sometimes contribute to the technical community and have published articles and continue to strive for the best technical and graphical solutions. Keeping up-to-date is vital if you want to stay ahead of the curve and we make good use of various industry sources to foster technical improvements and idea generation.
Alan Chambers graduated from the University of Wales, Swansea in 2002, gaining an MSc with Distinction in Computer Science. Since then, he has worked as a software engineer for several world renowned studios. These include Sony Computer Entertainment where he worked on games such as Formula 1 and WipEout, Sidhe as Lead Graphics Engineer and Weta Digital on core rendering technology for their upcoming film productions.
In 2012, his work on "Optimized Stadium Crowd Rendering" for the Rugby Challenge franchise was published in GPU Pro 3. He currently has more than 10 published video games to his name, most of which have sold over one million copies each since release.
Over the years, he has built up a knowledge base on a variety of platforms. With a comprehensive knowledge of processor architectures across several CPU and GPU implementations, he can work with almost any hardware configuration. His areas of interest include optimisation, parallel programming, engine architecture and graphics techniques.
KickBlade is based in Wellington, New Zealand. It is home to some of the best companies emerging in video games and film. Pikpok are currently enjoying world-wide success in the mobile games sector while Weta Digital have produced blockbuster films such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. New Zealand has all the infrastructure a company needs to reach the top and we're proud to have made it our home.
